Lose Regain Repeat

Lose Regain Repeat. Lose Regain Repeat. Lose Regain Repeat And Maintain

Does this sound like a familiar pattern to you

If you’re trying to lose weight, I suspect the answer is a clear YES.

When I see clients for weight loss, the one thing they all have in common is that this is not the first time they have tried to lose weight. Nor the second. Not even the third.  Most likely they have lost count of the number of times they have  been here before.  After each regain, feeling demotivated, disillusioned and desperate as they set off in search of what miracle diet to try next.

The second thing that most of my clients (- in fact not just my clients but all those who have tried to lose weight before) have in common is that when they have gone on their endless crazy diets, they actually have lost weight.  They can therefore lose weight.  Losing weight has not been their problem. OK, diet after diet after diet does get rather tedious and by this time their resolve to stick to it may waver, but the fact is that they CAN lose weight.

Their real problem which most do not realise is not losing weight but KEEPING IT OFF.  You see, losing weight is only one part of the equation. You also need to update your pictures of yourself. If you still see yourself as overweight or tubby or the fat one … or whatever other words you use to describe yourself, no matter how much weight you lose, its more than likely to go straight back on.  And MORE.

Now this is making sense to you. For many people, every time they have lost, they have gone on to regain the loss AND a bit more!  That’s why the weight has kept creeping on over the years.

Helping clients to lose weight is only one part of my work with them. A bigger part is helping them change everything else so this time their weight loss is FOR KEEPS. Updating their mental pictures, the way they talk to themselves, what they say to others, letting go of unhelpful thinking, habits, behaviours and beliefs.  Changing on the inside as well as out.

There is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to losing weight.  Just because the 5:2 worked for your friend does not mean it will work for you. We are all different: different weight loss histories, different experiences, different triggers, different things that work for us or don’t work.

To chat over your particular weight issue and how you can Lose and Maintain instead of once again Lose and Regain, get in touch with me today.
